The Concept
Monochrome / Live Action / Symbolic / Gritty / Scenic / Atmospheric / Crumbling / Creepy
Motivation for visual treatment of the title sequence was inspired by the original title sequence, along with the game. The game itself is gritty, dark, and has a big theme on ‘return to nature’ - with much of society’s skyscrapers and houses now dilapidated and destroyed, crumbling away as nature takes over again with vines, plants, weeds, trees, etc. Everything is crumbling, and the game itself feels very southern gothic. Along with the virus prevalent in the game that spreads and grows, a black and white treatment of the title sequence felt necessary, along with noise and grain on top of scenic, naturistic scenes.
